Abstract
The program focuses on supporting accelerated learning programs in the context of the One School Approach. This approach emphasizes the importance of a safe and supportive learning environment, where students can access quality education and reach their full potential. The program recognizes the critical role that teachers and school administrators play in creating a positive learning environment. To support this, the program has developed a Teacher's Code of Conduct, which outlines the professional practices and responsibilities of teachers and school administrators. The code emphasizes the importance of respecting the dignity and rights of all students, providing a safe and positive learning environment, and promoting good citizenship, peace, respect, and social responsibility. The code of conduct outlines specific duties and responsibilities of teachers and school administrators, including providing services efficiently and effectively, promoting a safe and child-friendly learning environment, and keeping parents and others informed about school programs and activities. Teachers and school administrators are also required to evaluate students based on standards and performance, recognize and award students justly for good academic performance, and refrain from engaging in behaviors that could compromise the integrity of the education system. The program also recognizes the importance of addressing School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV), which is a significant challenge in Liberian schools. SRGBV includes physical, psychological, and sexual violence, and can have serious consequences for students' physical and emotional well-being. The program aims to prevent SRGBV by promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity in schools, and by providing teachers and school administrators with the skills and knowledge they need to create a safe and supportive learning environment. The program's approach to addressing SRGBV is based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which emphasizes the importance of protecting children from all forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation. The program works to promote a culture of respect and empathy in schools, and to provide teachers and school administrators with the skills and knowledge they need to prevent and respond to SRGBV. In addition to addressing SRGBV, the program also focuses on promoting a culture of accountability and transparency in schools. This includes disseminating the code of conduct and referral pathways to report and seek help, and promoting a culture of respect and empathy among students, teachers, and school administrators. Overall, the Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children program aims to improve the quality of education in Liberia by promoting a safe and supportive learning environment, addressing SRGBV, and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency in schools.
