Abstract
The assessment is administered by assessors who follow a set of guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy. The assessment consists of two parts: an oral individual assessment and a whole group test administration. The oral individual assessment is administered to each student separately, with one assessor per student. The assessor provides the student with a reading passage and asks them to read it silently for 3 minutes. After the reading time is up, the assessor records the student's name and/or ID on the scoring sheet and attaches the reading passage scoring sheet to the student assessment booklet. The whole group test administration is administered to the entire class after the individual tests are completed. The assessor prompts the students to read each question to themselves and try their best to answer the question. The assessor gives students time to answer or attempt to answer the questions, and once the majority of the class is ready, the assessor moves on to the next question. The assessment includes a range of math questions that test students' understanding of various mathematical concepts, including multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. The questions cover topics such as the distributive property of multiplication, the zero property, and the rule of divisibility for 1, 2, and 5. Students are also asked to solve problems involving fractions, decimals, and mixed numbers. In addition to the math questions, the assessment includes questions that test students' ability to compare fractions, convert fractions to decimals, and order fractions from least to greatest. The assessment also includes questions that require students to solve problems involving real-world scenarios, such as calculating the amount of juice left in a pitcher after pouring some out. The assessment is designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of students' literacy and numeracy skills, and the results can be used to inform instruction and identify areas where students may need additional support. The assessment is administered by assessors who are trained to follow the guidelines and ensure that the assessment is administered fairly and consistently. The assessment is part of the USAID/Liberia Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children program, which aims to improve the quality of education in Liberia. The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by the Education Development Center (EDC).
