Abstract
The guide is divided into three units: Whole Numbers, Addition and Subtraction, and Multiplication, Division, and Fractions. Unit 1 focuses on whole numbers, covering topics such as counting, comparing, and writing numbers up to 100. The guide includes 29 lessons, each with a specific objective and activities to help students achieve that objective. Lesson 1 introduces students to studying math and counting up to 10, while Lesson 2 focuses on sets of objects. Lessons 3-6 cover comparing sets of objects, writing numbers up to 4 and 9, and comparing numbers 0-9. Unit 1 also includes lessons on numerical symbols and quantities, place value of numbers up to 20, and skip-counting by 2s up to 20. Additionally, lessons cover counting money up to $20, mid-unit review, and assessment. The unit concludes with lessons on the numbers up to 50 and 100, as well as number patterns and estimation. Unit 2, Addition and Subtraction, builds on the concepts learned in Unit 1. It includes 19 lessons that cover addition and subtraction with counters, fingers, and real objects. Lessons 31-40 focus on addition and subtraction with a number line, addition and subtraction tables, and practice exercises. The unit also includes lessons on 2-digit place value review, addition and subtraction word problems, and mixed practice. Unit 3, Multiplication, Division, and Fractions, introduces students to multiplication and division concepts. Lessons 61-64 review skip-counting and multiplication by 2 and 3 using counters. The unit also includes lessons on multiplication by 4 and 5 using counters, as well as division and fractions. The guide includes practice assessments and unit assessments to help teachers evaluate student progress. The assessments are designed to be scored and provide feedback to students. The guide also includes a table of contents, making it easy for teachers to navigate and plan lessons. The guide is designed for use in educational settings and is intended to support teachers in teaching numeracy skills to students. The content is organized in a logical and sequential manner, making it easy for teachers to follow and for students to learn.
