Abstract
The report highlights the progress made in implementing AGRA's $500 million strategy, which was rolled out in 2017. AGRA's strategy focuses on three key areas: state capability and policy engagement, systems development, and partnerships. The organization has established a unique strategic partnership, the Partnership for Inclusive Agriculture Transformation in Africa (PIATA), which brings together six partners, including AGRA, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development. PIATA partners have committed to a shared results framework and shared programmatic reporting. In 2018, AGRA continued to develop PIATA as a strategic partnership that signals an enduring commitment to Africa's transformation. The Advisory Committee has been established, and Country Advisory Committees have been set up in Ghana, Nigeria, and Ethiopia to guide the roll out of program activities. AGRA has also rolled out its strategy in all the countries, setting up offices, recruiting staff, and commencing inception activities and design of investments. The report highlights the progress made in disbursements and results from a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) perspective, with a total of $106 million disbursed against a pipeline of $180 million. AGRA is confident that this pipeline will translate into investments as planned, given the strengthened country and technical teams. AGRA's efforts in state capability and policy engagement focus on strengthening the capacity of governments to drive agricultural transformation. The organization has been working with governments to develop and implement policies and programs that support small holder farmers.
