AID cooperative agreement no. 391-0470-A-00-1797-00 with the Film Makers Limited for a pilot activity in environmental awareness/education

The hour-long color video will be oriented to a broad Pakistani audience, including both rural and urban residents. Dialogue will initially be developed in Urdu and later dubbed into English and regional languages. The film production company will be made up entirely of Pakistani professionals. The story line will depict environmental changes in the Indus River as seen through the eyes of an old fisherman, representative of the Pakistani conscience, and will emphasize attainable solutions to environmental problems and examples of how all people, both individually and collectively, can make positive changes on a self-help basis. The film will be broadcast on Pakistani television and other suitable distribution channels. Promotional materials such as a "behind the scene" production documentary video, production "storybook," and other advertising elements will be distributed. These materials will raise environmental awareness throughout the government and private sector and promote the concept of mass media public education.
