Grant is provided under the Project Design and Implementation Fund Project (3910470) to the Asia Foundation to help the Pakistani Ministry of Justice (MOJ) establish a Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) in Islamabad, Pakistan, the first of its kind in the country.

Abstract
The project, which covers the second and third years of a 3-year Asia Foundation program, will focus on institutional and personnel development. Activities will include U.S. observation tours for key MOJ personnel involved in the design and start-up of the FJA, initial training and continuing education for judges, a special training program for court registrars, training of trainers, and national and regional seminars and conferences. Training and related interventions will emphasize the administration of justice, efficient management of courts, teaching methodology, and monitoring and evaluation systems. Also, a Judicial Information Center with research and publication capabilities, including a small library, will be established within the FJA to disseminate the products of judicial research and develop and maintain links with judicial institutions in other countries. A series of continuing short-term consultancies will provide TA for the development of curricula, teaching materials, and the Information Center library.
