Grant is provided under the Cost Sharing Project to the Women"s Finance House Botswana (WFHB) to support start-up of a pilot business training outreach program for poor urban and rural Batswana women.
1991

Abstract
WFHB is an affiliate of Women"s World Banking (WWB), a U.S. PVO which will provide supportive TA. NORAD, the Norwegian aid agency, will also provide support. Activities under the grant will include: (1) recruitment of training staff and of trainees; (2) development of the training program (which will focus on basic business/managerial skills, not technical training); and (3) development of a legal awareness, assistance, and advocacy program, which will teach Batswana women about their legal rights, help them with legal problems related to running a business, and advocate reform of laws that discriminate against them. It is expected that at least 90 women will be trained during the one-year period of grant support, and about two-thirds of the trainees will be tracked to provide information for evaluating the pilot program.
