Grant is provided under the PVO Co-financing Project in Kenya (6150236) to Tenwek Hospital to help communities in rural Kericho District generate the farm-based income needed to support the costs of community health and sanitation infrastructure (latrines, water tanks, gardens, well baby/prenatal clinics) by establishing 24 small, local private companies which will introduce income-generating farm technologies to the communities.

Abstract
Specific targets are to: (1) hire and train 5 community development supervisors and 120 community development helpers; and (2) set up a demonstration/research area, which will include brooder houses, small chicken coops, a greenhouse (with vegetable, tea, and citrus seedlings), a four-cow zero grazing plot, and a tank to provide water for these activities. In all, some 3,000 families will benefit from increased income.
