AID grant no. 615-0266-G-00-6276-00 to the Writers Association of Kenya (WAK) to promote civic education among the reading public and at the institutions of higher learning in Kenya

WAK will organize a 5-day seminar at which more than 30 writers and literary critics will share their reflections and refine their thinking on democracy and discuss literary and philosophical essays by Kenyan writers. Specific themes include: personal experiences on democracy, gender and democracy, ethnic and cultural diversity, democracy and the class question, and good governance. Seminar proceedings will be published in Kiswahili and English for use both as literature texts in universities and teacher training colleges and as a tool for providing civic education to less advanced audiences.
