AID grant no. AID/NE-G-1449 to Save the Children Federation for a community based rural development program in Yemen

SCF will encourage existing Local Development Associations (LDA"s), new ones, or other forms of village organizations to identify and prioritize community needs and to design and implement projects to meet these needs. SCF will train at least 40 LDA members or other community members and at least 18 government workers in community development, and will provide functional skills training as well. The project aims to involve some 120 persons per year in 12 self-help activities (economic, social, and infrastructural); at least 4 of these activities will benefit and involve women, and at least 4 will benefit and involve children and youth. Some of the projects will be funded in part by the central government, and some funded in part through local tax remissions.
