Abstract
UNICEF will first assess specific medical, technical, and training needs. It is expected that the program will consist of the following main interventions: (1) health care support for abandoned and orphaned children under custodial care; (2) rehabilitation for children to facilitate home placement; (3) TA in appropriate screening techniques for children with developmental disorders; (4) training of health and welfare personnel in AIDS prevention and in child rehabilitation procedures; (5) assisting indigenous NGO"s in working with local communities in child home placements; (6) developing educational materials and promoting information exchange through specialized clearinghouses and provision of teaching aids; (7) providing public information on AIDS prevention; (8) nutritional assessment and nutrition education; and (9) data collection.
