AID grant no. ANE-0102-G-00-0059-00 with the United Nations Children Fund to provide support for the extended program of immunization and child health in Cambodia

UNICEF will provide vaccinations to an estimated 250,000 children. Additional interventions will be carried out to meet other child health needs, such as the control of diarrheal diseases and nutrition monitoring. About 800 community health workers will be trained. A second component will address the needs of some 250,000 disabled and orphaned or abandoned children. UNICEF will first assess the condition of physically disabled children and those suffering from psychological trauma as a result of armed conflict. UNICEF will then provide minimum rehabilitative services; increase awareness of the special needs of disabled children among parents, the community, and policymakers; and increase community and family involvement in the care of disabled children. To help orphans and abandoned children, UNICEF will promote improved care and adoption, also increase awareness of their special needs among the public and officials, and improve the capacity of orphans for integration in society. UNICEF will also develop national policy frameworks for prevention of disability and the care of disabled children and for the care of orphans and abandoned children.
