Grant is provided under the Humanitarian Aid for Cambodian Children project (4420102) to the American Refugee Committee (ARC) to improve child health in Cambodia"s Pursat Province through health worker training, mobile clinics, immunization, and nutrition screening and surveillance.

Abstract
ARC will train 30 Khmer health surveillance assistants and 30 traditional birth attendants. Topics will include sterile techniques, public health measures, health status screening, oral rehydration, and a wide variety of primary health care topics. ARC will also establish and train 25 village health committees. Mobile clinic services for children under five and their mothers will be provided on a monthly basis within designated districts. Services will include health and nutrition screening, immunizations, outpatient care for minor illnesses and health problems, oral rehydration therapy, and health education (through dramas, songs, and presentations). The full range of Extended Program Immunizations will be provided some 7,200. ARC will also train a Khmer immunization team to travel to villages in the target area and to maintain a cold chain to protect perishable drugs. ARC will perform nutrition screening, surveillance, and education for children at both fixed and mobile sites. For some 6,500 severely malnourished children, supplemental feeding will be undertaken.
