Abstract
This is one of several PVO projects comprising the Survival Assistance for Civilian Victims of the Civil Strife in Central America (CASA) program. WRF will develop a rehabilitation program that includes patient identification and diagnosis, fabrication of and fitting assistance with artificial limbs and braces, physical training and assistance in ambulation, and self-care and support training for patients and relatives. It is estimated that about 750 patients will be treated, and 250 of these will be fitted with prostheses or braces. WRF will coordinate with other U.S. PVO"s working in Nicaragua, especially in the area of patient identification, and, for surgical services, with the Pan American Development Fund Project 5240303.
