Subproject (SP), follow-on to 698066229, to train mid- to high-level French-speaking family planning (FP) personnel in West Africa in program management and in information, education, and communication (IEC).
1987

Abstract
The SP will be implemented by the Center for African Family Studies (CAFS). CAFS will conduct two courses each in FP program management and in FP-related IEC by 9/30/88; about 15-20 public and private sector FP personnel will participate in each course. Specifically, the management course will improve participants" understanding of management processes as they relate to FP programs, help them identify and solve management problems, and improve supervisory and evaluative capabilities. The IEC course will help participants integrate IEC activities into FP programs by explaining the relationship between IEC and FP acceptance and by demonstrating the training and resources needed to mount an effective IEC campaign. TA will be provided to CAFS staff in developing the courses.
