Abstract
Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide technical assistance services to the Office of HIV/AIDS and USG country teams in knowledge management, technical leadership, program sustainability, strategic planning, and program implementation support. The project is implemented by John Snow, Inc. in collaboration with several other organizations. The project's centrally-funded activities focus on prevention, treatment, and care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. In the prevention area, AIDSTAR-One has been working on general population and youth, most-at-risk populations, and voluntary medical male circumcision. The project has also been supporting adult and pediatric treatment, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT). Additionally, AIDSTAR-One has been providing HIV testing and counseling services, as well as care and support for orphans and vulnerable children. The project's field support-funded activities are implemented in various countries, including Africa, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and Caribbean, and Asia. In Africa, AIDSTAR-One has been working in countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia. In Europe and Eurasia, the project has been supporting activities in countries such as Russia and Ukraine. In Latin America and Caribbean, AIDSTAR-One has been working in countries such as Brazil and Honduras. AIDSTAR-One has produced 69 technical resources, including case studies, technical briefs, assessments, and reports, over the past six months. The project has also been providing training and technical assistance to country teams and implementing partners. In addition, AIDSTAR-One has been supporting the development of national HIV/AIDS strategic plans and providing technical assistance to countries to strengthen their HIV/AIDS programs. The project's knowledge management activities focus on collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information on best practices in HIV/AIDS programming. AIDSTAR-One has been working to develop a knowledge management system to support the project's activities and to share information with country teams and implementing partners. AIDSTAR-One has made significant progress in its centrally-funded and field support-funded activities over the past six months. The project has been working to strengthen the capacity of country teams and implementing partners to implement effective HIV/AIDS programs. The project has also been supporting the development of national HIV/AIDS strategic plans and providing technical assistance to countries to strengthen their HIV/AIDS programs. The project's results include the production of 69 technical resources, the provision of training and technical assistance to country teams and implementing partners, and the support of the development of national HIV/AIDS strategic plans. AIDSTAR-One has also been working to strengthen the capacity of country teams and implementing partners to implement effective HIV/AIDS programs. AIDSTAR-One's work in Brazil is a new field support activity that began during this report period. The project is working to support the development of a national HIV/AIDS strategic plan and to provide technical assistance to the Brazilian government to strengthen its HIV/AIDS program.
