Abstract
The training program aimed to provide hands-on field training in ambient air dioxin sampling methodology and procedures, as well as associated health and safety procedures. The training program consisted of three days of classroom and field activities. On Day 1, participants engaged in classroom activities, including a review of ambient air sampling methodology and procedures, and associated health and safety procedures. Field activities included calibrating air samplers, decontaminating air sampling equipment, and conducting TO-9a air sampling. Participants also received training on the use of TO-9a air samplers and associated calibration procedures. On Day 2, participants conducted field activities, including packing and deploying air samples, and checking air samplers. Participants also engaged in a computer activity, recording data during sampling. Classroom activities included a review of ambient air sampling methodology and procedures, and associated health and safety procedures. On Day 3, participants conducted field activities, including retrieving and packaging air samples. The training program concluded with a post-training survey and closing remarks. The training program was conducted by CDM Smith, in collaboration with USAID/Vietnam. The overall objective of the training program was to provide hands-on field training in ambient air dioxin sampling methodology and procedures, as well as associated health and safety procedures. The training program was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect and handle ambient air dioxin samples safely and effectively. The training program was conducted at the Danang Airport, which is a site contaminated with dioxin. The training program provided participants with the opportunity to work in the field on a real-world project site, collecting and handling ambient air dioxin samples. The training program also provided participants with the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including calibrating air samplers, decontaminating air sampling equipment, and conducting TO-9a air sampling. The training program was a collaborative effort between CDM Smith and USAID/Vietnam. The training program was designed to support the environmental remediation of dioxin contamination at the Danang Airport. The training program provided participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the remediation efforts at the site.
