Vietnam: Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contamination at Danang Airport Progress Report: May 1, 2013 to May 31, 2013

USAID contractors focused on constructing the containment structure and excavating contaminated soil and sediment from the former storage areas and southern wetlands. The contaminated material is being safely stockpiled on site while the containment structure is being finished. All personnel and equipment are decontaminated before leaving contaminated areas and entering clean areas. The containment structure is being built to prevent the spread of dioxin contamination, and the excavation and stockpiling of contaminated soil are being done to minimize the risk of environmental harm.
