Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the historical use of the territory in the area of influence of the Pucallpa-Cruzeiro do Sul project. The study was conducted in the Ucayali region of Peru, where the project is located. The study identified several key issues related to the use of the territory, including the presence of indigenous communities, colonos, miners, and logging companies. The study also found that the region has a rich cultural heritage, with many communities having traditional practices and customs. However, the region is also facing significant challenges, including deforestation, soil degradation, and water pollution. The study recommended several strategies to address these challenges, including the establishment of protected areas, the promotion of sustainable agriculture practices, and the development of community-based tourism initiatives. The study also emphasized the importance of involving local communities in the decision-making process and ensuring that their rights and interests are respected. The study was conducted in collaboration with several local organizations, including the Federación Indígena de la Nacionalidad Cofán del Ecuador (FEINCE), the Coordinadora Indígenas de las Organizaciones Indígenas de la Cuenca Amazónica (COICA), and the Fundación Sobrevivencia Cofán (FSC). The study was funded by the USAID and the Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF). The study's methodology included a review of existing literature, interviews with local stakeholders, and field observations. The study's findings were presented in a report that included several tables and graphs, which provided detailed information on the region's demographics, economy, and environmental conditions. The study's conclusions emphasized the importance of addressing the region's environmental and social challenges through a comprehensive and participatory approach. The study recommended that the government and other stakeholders work together to develop and implement policies and programs that promote sustainable development and respect the rights of local communities.
