Abstract
The project focuses on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR), with a specific emphasis on the Haut-Uele, Bas-Uele Provinces, and Nord Ubangui in the DRC, as well as the Mbomou, Haut-Mbomou, Haute Kotto, and Vakaga Préfectures in the CAR. The CRCA Activity is implemented by Invisible Children, with African Parks, African Wildlife Foundation, Bria Londo, Caritas Développement Bondo ASBL, Commission Diocésaine Justice et Paix, Solidarité et Assistance Intégrale aux Personnes Démunies, and Union d’Assistance aux Orphelins et Enfants Vulnérables serving as subcontractors or sub-awardees. The project's duration spans from October 13, 2017, to March 30, 2023. The CRCA Activity aims to address the complex drivers of violence in the region, including illicit natural resource exploitation, by promoting community resilience and supporting the development of sustainable livelihoods. The project's objectives include enabling communities to mitigate and adapt to security and conservation threats, pursuing pro-conservation livelihoods and basic needs, facilitating vulnerable populations' recovery from trauma, and transforming key intercommunal conflicts. In Year Three, which spans from October 2019 to September 2020, the CRCA Activity made significant progress in achieving its objectives. The CRCA Activity's progress was informed by ongoing research, analysis, and coordination, which enabled the project to adapt and respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in the region.
