Abstract
The project is implemented by the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The CVP operates from Building No. 1, Street 5 (Off-Jasmine Road) G-7/2, Islamabad, and can be contacted at +92-51-2620064-65 or through its website www.cvpa-tdea.org. The project's main objective is to enhance citizens' participation in the electoral process and promote transparency and accountability in the electoral system. To achieve this goal, the CVP focuses on three key components: strengthening citizens' voices, improving oversight of the state, and enhancing organizational capacity. One of the key initiatives of the CVP is the institutional coordination for women's National Identity Card (NIC) registration. The project works with various stakeholders, including the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), to ensure that women's NIC registration is facilitated and that they are able to exercise their right to vote. The CVP also conducts community sensitization, education, and mobilization to raise awareness about the importance of women's NIC registration and voter registration. The project also focuses on bridging the gender gap in electoral rolls. The CVP works with the ECP to identify and list unregistered women across Pakistan and advocates for their registration. The project also conducts a multi-media campaign to accelerate women's NIC and voter registration. In addition to these initiatives, the CVP also conducts election observation and reporting. The project has a long-term pre-election observation and reporting mechanism in place, which includes medium-term and election-day observation and reporting. The CVP also conducts post-election observation and reporting to ensure that the electoral process is transparent and accountable. The project's organizational capacity is also enhanced through various initiatives, including operational capacity development, programmatic capacity development, and monitoring and evaluation. The CVP also conducts training of master trainers and election-day observers to build their capacity and ensure that they are equipped to conduct effective election observation and reporting. The CVP's accomplishments during the year include progress against indicators in its Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) plan, disaggregation of performance data, and reasons for significant deviations. The project also faces various challenges, including limited resources and capacity constraints. The CVP's planned activities for the next quarter include performance indicators for the next quarter, activities for the next quarter, and a focus on enhancing organizational capacity and promoting transparency and accountability in the electoral system. The project's ultimate goal is to strengthen citizens' voices and oversight of the state in Pakistan, ensuring that the electoral process is transparent, accountable, and inclusive.
