Abstract
The project aimed to upgrade technical secondary education to meet the needs of the market in selected governorates and sectors. WISE collaborated with public and private sector entities to provide training and capacity building for stakeholders and counterparts. Result A focused on upgrading technical secondary education, with objectives to improve schools' capacity to provide students with technical, practical, entrepreneurial, innovation, and soft skills needed by the market to enhance employability. The project developed and implemented curricula that meet international standards and addressed market needs. Quality control and assurance systems were established to enhance the quality of education, and school governance and management were improved. In Year 4, the project made significant progress in achieving these objectives. Schools' capacity to provide students with the required skills improved, and curricula were developed and implemented that meet international standards. Innovative and student-centered approaches to technical education were also developed and piloted. Result B focused on enhancing productive capacity and ability to attract and retain skilled employees. The project upgraded the technical, practical, and soft skills of selected job seekers and linked them to the private sector for employment. Productivity of the existing labor force was improved, and firms were better able to recruit, retrain, and retain their staff. In Year 4, the project achieved significant results in this area. The project's results will have a lasting impact on the country's labor market and economy.
