Abstract
The Drivers Training program was successfully conducted on August 24th and 25th, with 26 participants from transport companies attending the training. The training highlighted the need for a Nairobi-based training program. The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) meeting was also attended by the CEO of KTA. The association presented a paper on self-regulation as a measure to combat overloading. This initiative demonstrates the association's commitment to addressing road safety concerns. The COMPETE evaluation meeting took place with a team of evaluators from USAID Washington. The KTA CEO presented a report on the impact of COMPETE support to the association. This evaluation aimed to assess the effectiveness of the COMPETE program in supporting the KTA. In addition to these activities, the KTA held a members meeting in Mombasa on August 24th. Forty-five members attended the meeting, where they discussed the implementation of the axle load control by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). This discussion highlights the importance of collaboration between the association and government agencies. The implementation of the COMPETE program has led to increased collaboration between the KTA and other stakeholders.
