Abstract
The project aimed to understand the level of engagement and commitment of the diaspora towards Bangladesh and its development. The assessment was conducted through a survey instrument, which was designed to collect data on various aspects of the diaspora's involvement with Bangladesh. The survey instrument consisted of several sections, including attitudes towards the Bangladeshi diaspora community, Bangladesh as a country, and the United States of America as a country. The respondents were asked to indicate their level of agreement with various statements related to these topics. The results of the survey showed that a significant proportion of the respondents felt a strong sense of pride and affiliation with the Bangladeshi diaspora community and Bangladesh as a country. The survey also collected data on the respondents' involvement with diaspora groups, charitable contributions, and investment interests. The results showed that a significant proportion of the respondents were involved with diaspora groups, both online and offline, and were interested in making charitable contributions to Bangladesh. The respondents also expressed a strong interest in investing in Bangladesh, particularly in fixed income securities, sovereign diaspora bonds, and equity ownership. In terms of charitable contributions, the respondents were asked to indicate their current degree of interest in making various types of contributions, including financial donations, donations-in-kind, and volunteering time. The results showed that a significant proportion of the respondents were interested in making financial donations and volunteering time to support Bangladeshi causes. The survey also collected data on the respondents' estimated charitable contributions over the past three years. The results showed that a significant proportion of the respondents had made charitable contributions, including financial donations, donations-in-kind, and volunteering time. The respondents were also asked to estimate the approximate value of their annual charitable contributions and the time they spent volunteering in Bangladesh and the United States on behalf of Bangladesh. The results of the survey provide valuable insights into the attitudes, behaviors, and interests of the Bangladeshi diaspora. The findings suggest that the diaspora is committed to supporting Bangladesh and its development, and is interested in making charitable contributions and investing in the country. The survey results can be used to inform policy and program development initiatives aimed at engaging the diaspora in Bangladesh's development.
