Abstract
The baseline survey aimed to measure the initial situation of the project's performance indicators and establish the initial values for the component's result indicators. The baseline report will allow monitoring the evolution of said indicators through the application of the Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM). Migrants arriving in Peru frequently face substantial barriers to earning income or accessing services, including food, shelter, hygiene, and healthcare costs. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, 87.6% of the Venezuelan population in Peru need support to cover their basic needs. The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in Peru reported that up to 80% of migrants require daily medications, 85% do not have access to medical care, and 68% of people surveyed in Tumbes did not have access to food. The baseline survey collected information from 677 households corresponding to the first two groups of the hot meals component of both World Vision and CARE. The survey was conducted through telephone and/or face-to-face interviews with the heads of household. The sample of participants' households was distributed as follows: 523 in Lima, 69 in Tumbes, and 121 in La Libertad. The results of the survey showed that approximately 90.10% of the participants were women, and 9.20% were men. The majority of the participants, 89.51%, were of Venezuelan nationality, and 10.49% were of Peruvian nationality. The survey also found that 58.35% of the households were composed of both female and male adults, while 33.83% were composed of adult females and no adult males. The survey results also indicated that the number of female respondents reached 610 people, of which 548 (89.84%) were of Venezuelan nationality and 62 (10.16%) were Peruvian. Regarding the 67 male respondents, 58 (86.57%) were Venezuelan, and 9 (13.43%) were Peruvian. The survey also found that the majority of the households, 71.94%, were located in Lima, while 17.87% were located in La Libertad, and 10.19% were located in Tumbes. The baseline report will allow establishing the initial values for the component's result indicators and subsequently monitoring the evolution of said indicators through the application of the Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM). The report will provide information that allows accounting for the initial state of the target population of the HOT MEALS component in order to know the level of food consumption according to the Food Consumption Score (FCS). The report will also provide information on the different vulnerability factors considered by the project.
