Abstract
PES, consisting of a facesheet only, covers the period 1/84-4/85 and is based on an attached final evaluation (XD-AAR-147-A). In action decisions: (1) project staff are directed to prepare a memorandum on the need for continued extension activities and to group final reports around end use categories; the reports should provide guidance as to the information needed by the Government of Botswana (GOB) to determine its renewable energy policy and suggestions for obtaining that information; (2) staff of two Kenya-based technology consulting firms (TECHNOSERVE and KENGO) should evaluate the project"s work on metal stoves and develop a plan for future activities as a first step in deciding GOB strategy for stoves and evaluating the role of extension activities; and (3) AID/W and the Water and Sanitation for Health (WASH) Project should support continued data collection and analysis of the comparative pumping activity. In addition, a plan must be developed for disposing of project equipment and commodities within the GOB at the project"s end, and small working groups composed of staff from the project, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Water Affairs, and other relevant GOB departments should plan the takeover of project activities under the four mini-projects proposed by the GOB.
