Abstract
The book "Buku Sumber untuk Dosen LPTK" (Resource Book for TTI Lecturers) was developed with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The book focuses on teaching literacy in Junior Secondary Schools, with a specific emphasis on the importance of literacy in the education system. The book is divided into six units, each addressing a different aspect of literacy. Unit 1, "Apa dan Mengapa Literasi" (What and Why Literacy), provides an introduction to the concept of literacy, its importance, and its relevance to the curriculum. Unit 2, "Tipe-Tipe Teks serta Ragam Membaca dan Menulis" (Types of Texts and Reading and Writing Styles), explores the different types of texts and reading and writing styles, including lateral, interpretive, critical, and creative reading, as well as informative, persuasive, creative, and critical writing. The book also emphasizes the importance of media literacy, which is discussed in Unit 3, "Media Literasi" (Media Literacy). The unit highlights the various types of media literacy, including graphic organizers, diagrams, and tables, and their role in enhancing literacy skills. The book concludes with Unit 6, "Membudayakan Literasi" (Cultivating Literacy), which provides practical guidance on how to implement literacy programs in schools. The book is designed to be a resource for lecturers in teacher training institutions, providing them with a comprehensive guide to teaching literacy in Junior Secondary Schools. The book's emphasis on practical applications and real-world examples makes it an invaluable resource for educators seeking to enhance literacy skills in their students.
