Abstract

With help from CARE and TA from Desarrollo de la Comunidad Organization (DESCOM), villagers will build a total of 60 water systems as well as dry compost latrines for family use. CARE will support health extension workshops by the Institute of Nutrition for Central America and Panama (INCAP) and the Ministry of Education"s Education Extra-Scolar aimed at instructing village women in hygiene and sanitation, especially as related to water. DESCOM will organize community water committees which will collect tariffs to cover maintenance costs.
