Abstract
It involves organizational mapping, community mapping, and focus group discussions. The process is guided by youth to enhance their agency, self-efficacy, and initiative programming. Two types of surveys were conducted from a distance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The surveys are framed around six main categories: youth development, educational environment, health, social environment, inclusion, and community services. The surveys were conducted with 196 participants from Al-Reesheh, with a majority being females (69%) and less than 30 years old (95%). The nationalities surveyed were predominantly Jordanian (99.5%). The surveys aimed to capture the community's needs and barriers, as well as the services and resources provided by institutions in the area. The community mapping survey revealed several challenges and barriers in the community. In the youth development category, participants reported that library services, spaces for youth to gather, and artistic, musical, and theatrical activities were in need of improvement. Out-of-school learning services such as English training, knowledge stations, and computer training were also reported to be least accessible or non-existent. In the school/educational environment category, participants identified several issues with school services, including lack of teacher experience, private lessons, equipment, space, hygiene, connection to the school environment, mentorship, and employees. Safety-related issues such as bullying and physical abuse were also reported. Barriers to education included stray animals, lack of assistance for people with learning difficulties, lack of access to persons with disabilities, financial reasons, road safety, transportation, and need to take care of family. In the health category, participants rated several health topics based on importance to youth. Nutrition was identified as the most important health-related topic, followed by mental health, physical health, and health education. The community also reported several health-related challenges, including lack of access to healthcare services, equipment, and health education. The community mapping analysis report highlights several key findings and recommendations for the community. The report suggests that the community needs to improve its youth development services, including library services, spaces for youth to gather, and artistic, musical, and theatrical activities. The report also recommends improving out-of-school learning services, addressing safety-related issues in schools, and providing assistance for people with learning difficulties and persons with disabilities. The report further suggests that the community needs to prioritize health-related topics, including nutrition, mental health, physical health, and health education. The report recommends improving access to healthcare services, equipment, and health education, as well as addressing health-related challenges such as lack of access to healthcare services and equipment. Overall, the community mapping analysis report provides a comprehensive understanding of the community's needs and barriers, as well as its services and resources. The report highlights several key findings and recommendations for the community, which can be used to inform programming and policy decisions.
