Abstract
The project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by LOGIK. The project's overall goal is to improve the quality of health services in Haiti. The project conducted a community survey in January-March 2016 to assess patient/client satisfaction with the care received at SSQH Central and South-supported health facilities. The survey targeted patients who received services at these facilities during the specified period. The survey population consisted of 1,200 patients, with a response rate of 95%. The survey results indicate that patients were generally satisfied with the care received at SSQH Central and South-supported health facilities. The overall client satisfaction score was 83%, with patients expressing high levels of satisfaction with the care received in various departments, including antenatal care, child health, and family planning. However, patients reported lower levels of satisfaction with services provided in the emergency department. The survey results also indicate that patients' satisfaction levels varied by department, facility level, and facility type. Patients who received services at higher-level facilities reported higher levels of satisfaction compared to those who received services at lower-level facilities. Similarly, patients who received services at facilities with a higher number of staff reported higher levels of satisfaction compared to those who received services at facilities with a lower number of staff. The survey results have implications for the improvement of health services in Haiti. The findings suggest that patients' satisfaction levels are influenced by various factors, including the quality of care, availability of staff, and facility infrastructure. To improve patient satisfaction, the project recommends increasing the availability of staff, improving the quality of care, and investing in facility infrastructure. The project also recommends that the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and the SSQH Central and South project work together to implement results-based financing (RBF) mechanisms to improve the quality of health services in Haiti. RBF mechanisms can help to incentivize health facilities to provide high-quality services and improve patient satisfaction. Overall, the community survey results provide valuable insights into patient satisfaction with health services in Haiti. The findings have implications for the improvement of health services and suggest that patients' satisfaction levels are influenced by various factors, including the quality of care, availability of staff, and facility infrastructure.
