Abstract
The project was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and was conducted by Société d'Etude et de Formation en Information Stratégiques (SEFIS). The project's primary objective was to verify the results of health services provided by health facilities in the North region of Haiti. The project's methodology involved a household survey, which was conducted from July to September 2016. The survey targeted a sample of 1,200 households, with a response rate of 95%. The survey collected data on client characteristics, existence of clients, services received, client level of satisfaction, and facility characteristics. The data was analyzed using a quality score system, which assessed the quality of services provided by health facilities. The results of the survey showed that the majority of clients (85%) were satisfied with the services provided by health facilities. However, there were significant variations in satisfaction levels across different departments and facility characteristics. The survey also found that clients who received services at health centers with beds (Centre de santé a Lit) were more satisfied than those who received services at health centers without beds (Centre de santé sans lit). The survey results also showed that the majority of clients (70%) reported that they received services at health facilities that were clean and well-maintained. However, there were significant variations in the availability of essential medicines and equipment across different facilities. The survey also found that clients who received services at facilities with a higher quality score were more likely to report that they received respectful and dignified care. The project's conclusions and recommendations were based on the survey results and the quality score system. The report concluded that the VRS NORD project had achieved its primary objective of verifying the results of health services provided by health facilities in the North region of Haiti. However, the report also identified several areas for improvement, including the need to increase the availability of essential medicines and equipment, improve the cleanliness and maintenance of health facilities, and enhance the quality of services provided by health facilities. The report made several recommendations to improve the quality of health services in the North region of Haiti. These recommendations included the need to increase funding for health facilities, improve the training and capacity of health workers, and enhance the monitoring and evaluation of health services. The report also recommended that the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and other stakeholders work together to develop a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of health services in the North region of Haiti. The VRS NORD project's results and recommendations have important implications for the improvement of health services in Haiti. The project's findings highlight the need for continued investment in the health sector, particularly in the North region of Haiti. The project's recommendations provide a roadmap for improving the quality of health services in the region, and highlight the importance of collaboration and coordination among stakeholders to achieve this goal.
