Abstract
The activity directly impacts 301,636 people. Community Visioning serves as a key component of the Takunda program, facilitating a participatory and inclusive process to identify and address community needs and priorities. The Community Visioning process involved four districts: Buhera, Mutare, Chivi, and Zaka. The process consisted of five steps: identifying the current situation, envisioning the desired future, determining the desired outcomes, identifying the necessary actions, and monitoring progress. The process was facilitated by a team of staff, including local leadership and opinion leaders, program participants, and district-based government stakeholders. The significant outcomes of the Community Visioning process across the four districts include the development of Community Action Plans (CAPs) that outline specific projects and activities to address community needs and priorities. The CAPs were developed through a participatory process involving community members, local leadership, and program participants. The CAPs were then prioritized based on community needs and available resources. The CAPs identified a range of projects and activities, including infrastructure development, agricultural support, and income-generating activities. The projects were prioritized based on community needs and available resources. The CAPs also identified key gaps and challenges, including limited access to markets, inadequate infrastructure, and limited capacity for agricultural production. The Community Visioning process also identified key learnings and recommendations for the Takunda program. These include the need for increased community engagement and participation, the importance of building local capacity and leadership, and the need for more effective coordination and collaboration among stakeholders. The Takunda Resilience Food Security Activity has made significant progress in promoting sustainable, equitable, and resilient food, nutrition, and income in Manicaland and Masvingo provinces, Zimbabwe. The Community Visioning process has been instrumental in identifying community needs and priorities, and developing CAPs that outline specific projects and activities to address these needs. The process has also identified key gaps and challenges, and provided recommendations for the Takunda program to address these challenges. The CAPs developed through the Community Visioning process have been prioritized based on community needs and available resources. The projects and activities outlined in the CAPs are designed to address key challenges and gaps identified through the Community Visioning process. The CAPs include infrastructure development, agricultural support, and income-generating activities, among others. The Takunda Resilience Food Security Activity will continue to work with community members, local leadership, and program participants to implement the CAPs and address the key gaps and challenges identified through the Community Visioning process.
