Project to help the Government of the Republic of Sudan provide a reliable drinking water supply to approximately 43,000 farm families who are enrolled in a reforestation program in the North Kordofan Province.

Abstract
The project will be implemented by Sudan"s National Administration for Water (NAW) and by CARE. Project implementation will consist of four activities. (1) Shallow and/or deep bore wells will be drilled. (2) Hand pumps and reciprocating pumps will be installed and/or water yards will be erected. (3) Existing water yards will be rehabilitated where indicated by the survey. (4) Finally, the system for establishing, managing, and maintaining water supply facilities and for evaluating the various impacts (productive, health, and environmental) of such facilities will be upgraded. A full-time water resource advisor will work with NAW.
