Abstract
The program has expanded its focus to include apex bodies and cooperative institutions in Rwanda and Kenya. In Rwanda, the program has partnered with two national federations, three cooperative unions, and six primary cooperatives. The program has also conducted a social capital study and provided technical assistance to the University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) for research. In Rwanda, the program has implemented several activities, including: * Conducted a social capital study and presented the results to cooperatives * Launched a $45,357 subaward to UNILAK for research * Recruited a US-based research consultant to provide technical assistance to UNILAK * Hosted a Cooperative Learning Event in Rwanda in 2018 * Conducted a capacity building program for UPROCENYA union and primary cooperative leaders on financial management * Assessed maize and dairy federation and areas for CD3 support * Conducted a capacity development program for primary cooperatives through proximity coaching * Validated results reports developed for cooperatives as part of the OCDC Collaborative Group research project In Kenya, the program has also implemented several activities, including: * Discussed a scope of work with the World Council of Unions (WOCCU) on a joint assignment to identify and outline the interface between SACCOs and dairy cooperatives The program has created new internal indicators to monitor its progress and has also created a set of indicators to track its performance in the extension years.
