Abstract
The report highlights the implementation of technical interventions and main activity results. According to data from the Direction du Programme Elargi de Vaccination (DPEV) database, 80,203 persons were vaccinated during October 2021 within the 14 ACCESS-supported regions and Analamanga. This includes 76,790 persons fully vaccinated and 3,413 who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among all vaccinated populations, 44,172 (55%) were reported from the 14 ACCESS-supported regions and 34,659 from the region of Analamanga. Implementation of technical interventions focused on accelerating widespread and equitable access to and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations. Key activities included establishing improved vaccinodromes, conducting vaccinomobile campaigns, supporting the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in monitoring and supervision of COVID-19 vaccinations, and supporting the development and deployment of electronic recording and data management. The report highlights the establishment of branded tents and visibility materials in Mahajanga and Morondava to improve the visibility of vaccinodromes and attract more people. Additionally, ACCESS supported the development of graphics, lighting, and installation of TV screens in post-vaccination observation rooms in the region of Analamanga. The four vaccinomobiles served the Analamanga regions during the month of October 2021, administering vaccines and transporting vaccines to various sites. The report also highlights the support provided to the MOPH in monitoring and supervision of COVID-19 vaccinations, including supervisions in DIANA and Analanjirofo. ACCESS continued to engage in discussions on using vaccination cards with QR codes with the DPEV. The report also highlights the contribution of ACCESS to improving data reporting by providing data for three months for all 558 vaccination teams in ACCESS intervention areas. The report also focuses on reducing morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigating transmission, and strengthening health systems. Key activities included risk communication and community engagement, coordination and operations, and planned activities. The report highlights the production of new versions of TV and radio spots to generate demand for the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the broadcast of TV and radio spots on stations with national reach. The report also highlights the organization of a live interview on national television with the DPS (Dr. Manitra) on the morning show Karakory on TVM. The report also highlights the coordination and operations activities, including strategic and coordination meetings attended, strengthening national coordination, and planned activities. The report highlights the preparation for the meeting on the causal analysis of the COVID-19 vaccination situation in the country led by the DPEV, as well as the provision of technical and financial support for QGOs for the Analamanga region. The planned activities for the next reporting period include continuing multi-channel campaigns through national television and at the district level, participating during the event "Salon de l'habitat" to set up a Vaccinodrome and sensitize visitors to get vaccinated, and mobilizing nine mobile teams to make tom-toms in eight urban areas. The report also highlights the completion of the Big Billboard Campaign with 21 billboards put up in 11 regions, the finalization and printing of the Social Mobilization Guide for CHVs, and the refresh of CHVs (est. 8,000) on COVID-19 related activities during their monthly meetings.
