Abstract
The survey was conducted in eight languages using mobile devices. The results showed that the Dominican Republic ranked in the upper third of countries in the region in terms of support for democracy. Support for democracy in the Dominican Republic has declined over the years, from 22.4% in 2006 to 2019. However, this decline was slight between 2016 and 2019. When asked if democracy might have problems, but is better than any other form of government, 51.5% of respondents in the Dominican Republic agreed, ranking the country 10th in the region in terms of support for democracy. The Dominican Republic also ranked 5th in the region in terms of satisfaction with democracy. However, satisfaction with democracy has declined over the years, from 18.6% in 2006 to 2019. The country's ranking in terms of satisfaction with democracy has remained relatively stable, with a slight increase between 2016 and 2019. The survey also found that the Dominican Republic ranked 10th in the region in terms of tolerance for military coups. The results of the survey suggest that the country's democratic institutions are relatively stable, but that there may be concerns about the functioning of democracy in the country.
