Abstract
under the auspices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) contract AID-486-C-13-00001. The project aimed to remediate contaminated soil and groundwater contaminated with various pollutants, including heavy metals and volatile organic compounds. The project involved the use of In-Pile Thermal Desorption (IPTD) technology to treat contaminated soil and groundwater. IPTD is a process that uses heat to extract contaminants from soil and groundwater, allowing for the safe disposal of the treated materials. The project also included the construction of a liquid and vapor treatment plant, which was used to treat contaminated liquids and vapors. Demobilization activities were conducted in accordance with the project's demobilization plan, which outlined the procedures for the safe removal of equipment, materials, and personnel from the project site. The demobilization plan included the categorization of waste, the demobilization sequence, methods of decontamination, and confirmation sampling. The project generated a significant amount of waste, including hazardous waste, which was disposed of through various methods, including recycling, disposal, and return to vendors. The project also involved the sale of property, including equipment and materials, to various vendors. The project's demobilization activities were conducted in accordance with the project's health and safety plan, which outlined the procedures for ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment during demobilization. The project's demobilization activities were also conducted in accordance with the project's environmental management plan, which outlined the procedures for minimizing the environmental impact of the project. The project's demobilization activities were completed on January 3, 2019, and the project site was returned to the Government of Vietnam in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The project's demobilization report provides a detailed account of the project's demobilization activities, including the categorization of waste, the demobilization sequence, methods of decontamination, and confirmation sampling. The project's demobilization report also includes a summary of the project's lessons learned, which highlights the importance of careful planning and execution of demobilization activities to ensure the safe and environmentally responsible removal of equipment, materials, and personnel from the project site. The project's demobilization report is a valuable resource for future projects, providing a detailed account of the project's demobilization activities and lessons learned. The report highlights the importance of careful planning and execution of demobilization activities to ensure the safe and environmentally responsible removal of equipment, materials, and personnel from the project site.
