Abstract
The program is implemented by The Pragma Corporation and focuses on two main components: Improving Macroeconomic Functions of Key Institutions and Improved Microeconomic Conditions. The first component, Improving Macroeconomic Functions of Key Institutions, involves strengthening the country's monetary policy development and implementation, fiscal policy development and implementation, and trade facilitation policy development and implementation. This includes reforming the monetary management system, improving foreign reserve and exchange management, and enhancing payments system reform. The program also focuses on improving the collection and reporting of monetary statistics, addressing the COVID-19 macroeconomic, fiscal, and financial impact, and implementing anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism measures. The second component, Improved Microeconomic Conditions, aims to strengthen small and medium enterprises (SMEs) capacity, improve access to finance, and support sustainable livelihoods. This includes providing support to SMEs, workforce development, and access to finance initiatives. The program also focuses on sustainable livelihoods, including agriculture and agribusiness, and fisheries. The ERLP program has achieved significant results in the first quarter of FY2021, including a 27% increase in household income among program participants compared to the control group. The program's geographic focus is on Yemen, with a particular emphasis on the Aden and Mukallah regions. The program's implementation is supported by a range of stakeholders, including the Government of Yemen, international organizations, and local partners. The ERLP program's performance is monitored and evaluated through a range of indicators, including outcome and intermediate results. The program's progress is tracked through a performance indicator tracking table, which provides a comprehensive overview of the program's achievements and challenges. Overall, the ERLP program is a critical initiative aimed at promoting economic stability and sustainable livelihoods in Yemen. The program's focus on improving macroeconomic functions and microeconomic conditions has achieved significant results, and its continued implementation is essential for supporting the country's economic recovery and development.
