Abstract
The project involves making improvements to the existing channel, including excavation and installation of a mortared stone wall. A 48-inch RCP culvert and headwalls under Route 6 will be replaced with 2-3x9 box culverts and headwalls. The project will be constructed under a single prime contract, with the contractor having full use of the project site for construction operations during the construction period. The contractor's use of the project site is limited only by the government's right to perform work or retain other contractors on portions of the project. Work restrictions include complying with restrictions on construction operations, public streets, and other requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. The project will be conducted in accordance with the specifications and drawing conventions outlined in the contract documents. The specifications use certain conventions for style of language and intended meaning of certain terms, words, and phrases in particular situations. The contractor is required to perform specification requirements unless specifically stated otherwise. The project involves earth moving, which includes excavating and filling for rough grading the site, and excavating and backfilled for structures. The work of this section is affected by unit prices for earth moving, as outlined in Section 012200 "Unit Prices. The contractor is required to comply with government requirements for drug and alcohol screening of contractor personnel working on the project site. The project includes the following earth moving activities: backfill, base course, bedding course, borrow soil, drainage course, excavation, authorized additional excavation, bulk excavation, unauthorized excavation, fill, rock, and structures. The contractor is required to use equipment that meets the specifications outlined in the contract documents, including late-model, track-mounted hydraulic excavators and late-model, track-mounted loaders. The project will be conducted in accordance with the specifications and drawing conventions outlined in the contract documents.
