Abstract
The program is adapted from existing materials developed by Jhpiego, a global health organization, and is a derivative product of several learning resource packages, including Effective Teaching Skills, Instructional Design, and Measuring Student Performance. The program is made possible through the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the terms of the Cooperative Agreement AID-OAA-A-14-00028. The contents of the program are the responsibility of the Maternal and Child Survival Program and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID or the United States Government. The Faculty Development Program is designed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate effective learning in the health care sector. The program consists of several modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of teaching and learning, including facilitating learning, planning for teaching, developing objectives for learning, selecting learning activities, and assessing student performance. The program includes a range of exercises and activities designed to help educators develop their skills and knowledge in these areas. For example, Module TL01: Facilitating Learning includes exercises such as Theoretical Learning Self-Assessment and Review a Course Syllabus, while Module TL02: Planning for Teaching includes exercises such as Develop Grading Criteria and Develop a Course Schedule. The program also includes a range of sample materials and templates, such as Session Plan Templates and Instructional Planning Worksheets, to help educators plan and deliver effective learning activities. Additionally, the program includes a range of assessment tools and methods, such as Selecting Assessment Items and Constructing Assessment Items and Tools. The Faculty Development Program is designed to be a comprehensive and flexible resource that can be adapted to meet the needs of educators in a variety of settings. The program is intended to support the development of educators in the health care sector, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and to contribute to the improvement of health outcomes through effective teaching and learning. The program is aligned with the goals and objectives of the Maternal and Child Survival Program, which aims to introduce and support high-impact health interventions in 25 priority countries to help prevent child and maternal deaths. The program is also aligned with the global health agenda, which emphasizes the importance of strengthening health systems, improving access to health services, and promoting health equity. Overall, the Faculty Development Program is a valuable resource for educators in the health care sector, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver effective learning activities and contribute to the improvement of health outcomes.
