Abstract
The project focused on the development of a regional fiber optic network in the municipalities of Temerin, Beočin, and Sremski Karlovci. The network was designed to provide high-speed internet access to the residents and businesses in these areas. The feasibility study for the regional fiber optic network was conducted by Amber Software doo, a company based in Novi Sad, Serbia. The study was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Sustainable Local Development Project in Serbia. The study's objective was to assess the technical and economic viability of the project and to identify the necessary steps for its implementation. The study began with an introduction to the concept of broadband networks and their benefits. It highlighted the importance of broadband access for economic development, education, and healthcare. The study also provided an overview of the current state of broadband access in Serbia and the Vojvodina region, including the number of internet users, the types of services offered, and the existing infrastructure. The study then presented a detailed analysis of the socio-economic conditions in the municipalities of Temerin, Beočin, and Sremski Karlovci. It examined the demographic characteristics of the population, the economic indicators, and the existing infrastructure. The analysis revealed that the municipalities have a high potential for economic growth, but they lack the necessary infrastructure to support it. The study proposed the development of a fiber optic network that would connect the municipalities to the existing fiber optic network in Novi Sad. The network would provide high-speed internet access to the residents and businesses in the municipalities, as well as to the local government institutions. The study identified the necessary infrastructure, including the fiber optic cables, the network equipment, and the transmission towers. The study also examined the technical and environmental aspects of the project. It assessed the potential environmental impacts of the project, including the effects on the local ecosystem and the potential for pollution. The study identified the necessary measures to mitigate these impacts and to ensure the sustainability of the project. The study concluded that the development of a regional fiber optic network in the municipalities of Temerin, Beočin, and Sremski Karlovci is technically and economically viable. It recommended the implementation of the project, which would provide high-speed internet access to the residents and businesses in the municipalities, as well as to the local government institutions. The study also recommended the establishment of a project management team to oversee the implementation of the project and to ensure its successful completion. The study's findings and recommendations were presented in a detailed report, which included a technical description of the project, a financial analysis, and a plan for the implementation of the project. The report was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the USAID and the Sustainable Local Development Project in Serbia.
