Abstract
Successful ASF market systems present opportunities for economic growth, resilience, inclusiveness, and improved nutrition in Feed the Future countries. However, investments in these systems require a deep understanding of the supply-side, marketing, and financial services factors that shape ASF system outcomes. The project developed a suite of resources to examine the enabling environment for ASF market systems. These resources include a technical report, learning note, blog series, video series, and webinar series. The technical report provides a comprehensive examination of the enabling environment, while the learning note offers a concise overview of key findings. The blog series and video series offer in-depth analysis of specific topics, and the webinar series provides interactive presentations and discussions. Supply-side factors, such as the quality and accessibility of feed, animal health products and services, and improved genetics, play a crucial role in determining ASF market system success. Marketing factors, including trade policy, infrastructure, and standards, as well as food safety control mechanisms, also impact the success of ASF market systems. Financial services, such as access to credit and index-based livestock insurance, are essential for supporting ASF systems. The project's resources are designed to provide practitioners with a deep understanding of the enabling environment and its impact on ASF market system success. The technical report, learning note, and other resources offer a comprehensive examination of the key supply-side, marketing, and financial services factors that shape ASF system outcomes. By understanding these factors, practitioners can develop effective strategies to address market constraints and support the growth of ASF market systems. The Feed the Future Enabling Environment for Food Security project is a global support mechanism for Feed the Future-focused and aligned Missions and Washington-based USAID Offices. The project addresses legal, institutional, and regulatory factors that function as market constraints affecting food security. The project's resources are available for practitioners to access and utilize in their work. The technical report, learning note, blog series, video series, and webinar series offer a wealth of information on the enabling environment and its impact on ASF market system success. By leveraging these resources, practitioners can develop effective strategies to support the growth of ASF market systems and improve food security in Feed the Future countries.
