Abstract
The project's primary objective is to enhance the effectiveness and impact of its activities in improving food security. A knowledge management (KM) assessment was conducted to identify key findings and recommendations for the project. The assessment involved a USAID Feed the Future Staff Survey, a multi-stakeholder online survey, and key informant interviews. The results of the assessment highlighted the importance of integrating KM across project activities. Five stakeholder user profiles were identified, each with distinct characteristics and preferences. A database of over 23 online platforms was reviewed, and recommendations for KM implementation were provided. The assessment also analyzed technical knowledge, synthesis, and communication preferences, as well as knowledge exchange formats and exchange formats and trusted sources and online exchange platforms. The USAID Feed the Future Staff Survey and multi-stakeholder online survey garnered responses from 60 and 225 individuals, respectively. The results of the surveys and key informant interviews were used to inform the development of stakeholder user profiles. The assessment also identified the need for a KM implementation plan to guide the project's KM activities. The KM implementation plan outlines the project's goals, objectives, and objectives for integrating KM into its work. The plan emphasizes the importance of engaging with USAID and other stakeholders to define the top-tier and second-tier audiences and to establish the purpose of KM activities. The plan also highlights the need to consider the resources available and weigh the tradeoffs in terms of value and return on investment for different methods. The project has identified some key learnings from its experience with KM. These include the importance of informal use of KM tools and the need to track and follow through on new activity plans. The project is also exploring ways to integrate KM into its work from the beginning of new assignments, calls, or activities.
