Abstract
During its first 18 months, FTF Inova conducted outreach and established partnerships with 34 market actors, all of which continue to be supported in adopting catalytic innovations. The project's progress does not end with having the right number of high-quality partners, but also involves learning where there is appetite for change by mapping applications and expressions of interest to various areas as defined in the Market System Change Wheel. FTF Inova's partnership facility is a key component of its management approach. The facility enables the project to provide support to its partners, including funding, technical assistance, and capacity building. The project's partnership instruments include grants, loans, and equity investments, which are used to support the adoption of catalytic innovations. FTF Inova's partnership agreement development and implementation process involves a thorough assessment of the partner's capacity and needs, as well as the development of a customized partnership agreement. The project's technical activities focus on developing and implementing market systems development (MSD) interventions. These interventions aim to address specific market system constraints and leverage points, and are designed to be catalytic and sustainable. FTF Inova's input distribution network system, supply chain management system, and interconnected systems are key components of its technical activities. The project's support services system provides technical assistance and capacity building to its partners, while its business services system provides business development services and market research. FTF Inova's monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) system is designed to track the project's progress and impact. The system includes a range of indicators and metrics that are used to assess the project's performance and identify areas for improvement. The project's collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) approach involves regular communication and feedback with its partners, as well as a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. FTF Inova's communications strategy involves a range of activities, including social media, newsletters, and stakeholder engagement. The project's management and operations are overseen by a management team, which is responsible for ensuring that the project is implemented in accordance with its work plan and budget. The team includes a chief of party, a contracting officer's representative, and a range of technical staff. FTF Inova's fiscal year 2019 Gantt chart outlines the project's key milestones and deadlines, while its partnership agreement process involves a thorough assessment of the partner's capacity and needs. The project's innovations include the use of information and communications technology (ICT) to support market systems development, as well as the establishment of a community radio forum to promote market information and awareness.
