Abstract
The project aims to leverage USAID/Tanzania's investments in employment, education, agriculture, governance, and health into one youth-centered project that builds the capacities of young people ages 15-35 and connects them to opportunities. The project is implemented in three regions: Mbeya, Iringa, and Zanzibar. The mainland regions are part of the Feed the Future (FTF) initiative in the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT), which includes Kilolo, Mufindi, and Iringa District Councils and Iringa Municipal Council in Iringa Region, and Rungwe, Kyela, Mbarali, Busokelo, and Mbeya District Councils and Mbeya City in Mbeya Region. Zanzibar covers both the Unguja and Pemba islands. The project incorporates positive youth development (PYD) and gender-transformative approaches (GTA) in all its activities to ensure that while youth are connected with economic opportunities, they are provided with life skills, future goal orientation, entrepreneurial mindsets, and basic job-seeking capabilities in skill areas sought by private sector employers. This comprehensive youth project ensures that its beneficiaries are not only economically empowered but also equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen careers. The project's geographic coverage includes several districts and regions in Tanzania, with a focus on the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT). The project's reporting period is from January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2021. Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth is implemented by DAI Global, LLC, with Pathfinder International and DevWorks as subcontractors.
