2018 · 24 pages

Abstract
Maguge and his mother embarked on a journey to gather umuti, a type of plant material used for medicinal purposes. They encountered various obstacles, including Gasamake, Ruyuzi, and Bihogo, who initially refused to sell them the umuti. However, with persistence and determination, Maguge and his mother were able to acquire the umuti from each of these individuals. The report suggests that this type of perseverance is essential for farmers to overcome the challenges they face in Rwanda. The story of Maguge and his mother is just one example of the many farmers who are working to improve their livelihoods through agricultural development initiatives. The report highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of poverty and food insecurity in Rwanda, including soil degradation and limited market access.
