Abstract
The workshop, titled "Sistemas de medición, reporte y verificación (MRV) para el Fideicomiso para el Ahorro de Energía Eléctrica (FIDE)," took place on September 26 and 27, 2013, at the FIDE offices in Mexico City. The workshop aimed to provide basic information on MRV systems and their importance to representatives from various groups participating in energy efficiency programs at FIDE and other actors. The workshop covered topics such as the importance of MRV, the panorama of MRV systems, and the principles and elements of MRV for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). The workshop was attended by 31 participants from various institutions, including FIDE, the Secretariat of Energy, the Federal Electricity Commission, the Energy Regulatory Commission, and the National Polytechnic Institute. The participants' level of knowledge on MRV ranged from basic to intermediate, with 57.6% having no prior knowledge of MRV. The workshop evaluation considered five rubrics, with a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 represented total disagreement and 5 represented strong agreement. The results showed that 96% of the participants agreed that the workshop covered their expectations, and 100% agreed that the materials used were well-organized and easy to follow. The participants also provided feedback on the workshop, suggesting that it would be beneficial to provide case studies and real-life examples, as well as to send the materials in advance with examples. They also suggested that the workshop could be improved by providing more detailed information on the Mexican legal framework and by including more practical exercises. The workshop was evaluated positively, with 92% of the participants agreeing that the facilities were adequate. The participants also provided suggestions for future workshops, including the possibility of organizing a second workshop on MRV for REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and the importance of providing bibliography and real-life examples. The Mexico Low Emissions Development Program (MLED) aims to support the development of low-emission development strategies in Mexico, and the workshop on MRV systems is a key component of this effort. The workshop provided a platform for participants to learn about MRV systems and their importance, and to share their experiences and knowledge on the topic.
