In South Sudan, a Phase 4 Emergency is expected, with 1.0-2.49 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing 5-20% of the population. Yemen is also expected to experience a Phase 3 Crisis, with 1.0-2.49 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing 5-20% of the population. In Sudan, a Phase 3 Crisis is anticipated, with 0.5-0.99 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing less than 5% of the population. Nigeria is expected to experience a Phase 3 Crisis, with 2.5-4.99 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing less than 5% of the population. Ethiopia is also expected to experience a Phase 3 Crisis, with 1.0-2.49 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing less than 5% of the population. In Central African Republic, a Phase 4 Emergency is anticipated, with 1.0-2.49 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing 20-40% of the population. Somalia is expected to experience a Phase 4 Emergency, with 1.0-2.49 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing 20-40% of the population. The lean season is expected to peak in June in several countries, including Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya. In Ethiopia, the Meher cropping season is expected to be well below average, while in Somalia, the cropping season is expected to be below average. In Kenya, the SE Marginal cropping season is expected to be below average. In West Africa, the Sahel region is expected to experience a Phase 3 Crisis, with 2.5-4.99 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing 20-40% of the population. In Southern Africa, a Phase 1 Minimal situation is expected, with less than 0.1 million people projected to be acutely food insecure, representing less than 5% of the population. The estimated acutely food insecure populations for June 2015 are as follows: South Sudan, 1.0-2.49 million people (5-20% of the population); Yemen, 1.0-2.49 million people (5-20% of the population); Sudan, 0.5-0.99 million people (less than 5% of the population); Nigeria, 2.5-4.99 million people (less than 5% of the population); Ethiopia, 1.0-2.49 million people (less than 5% of the population); Central African Republic, 1.0-2.49 million people (20-40% of the population); Somalia, 1.0-2.49 million people (20-40% of the population); and others.
