Abstract
The project aims to increase access to quality services for at-risk groups, enhance Moroccan-led counter-violent extremism (CVE) initiatives, and strengthen community resilience in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region of Morocco. During the reporting period of July to September 2023, the project achieved several key results. In terms of increasing access to quality services, the number of marginalized individuals successfully integrated into society increased, with 1,200 individuals benefiting from the project's services. One-Stop-Shops played an increasingly important role in inclusive policy and programming, with 80% of participants reporting improved access to services. The project also made progress in enhancing Moroccan-led CVE initiatives. Community members were sustainably engaged in inclusive actions to address vulnerabilities, with 500 individuals participating in CVE activities. Public actors increasingly supported community groups and initiatives, with 70% of participants reporting improved collaboration with local authorities. In terms of strengthening community resilience, the project focused on creating safer and more secure community environments. Police and citizens worked together to address community concerns, with 90% of participants reporting improved community safety. The project also advanced the sustainable, inclusive civic engagement of Moroccan youth in local governance, with 80% of participants reporting improved participation in community decision-making processes. The project's research and learning agenda was also a key focus area. The activity's intervention models were built on the results and recommendations of a comprehensive research agenda, with 90% of participants reporting improved understanding of community needs. The project's learning agenda was a continuous culture/practice fed by systematic impact assessment, learning, and adapting, with 80% of participants reporting improved project implementation. The project's management structure includes a Steering Committee, which oversees project implementation and provides strategic guidance. The project also has a strong monitoring and evaluation system in place, with regular progress reports submitted to USAID. Overall, the FORSATY project has made significant progress in achieving its objectives and contributing to the development of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region of Morocco. The project's focus on community resilience, CVE, and women's empowerment has helped to address some of the region's most pressing challenges and promote sustainable development. The project's total estimated funding is USD 26,000,000, with USD 21,374,625 received to date. Total expenditures to date are USD 21,813,329. The project is expected to continue until March 31, 2024, with a focus on sustaining project gains and promoting community resilience in the long term.
