Abstract
The event brought together experts from various fields, including law, economics, and finance, to discuss the importance of guarantees in the Mexican judicial system. The conference began with a keynote speech by Gustavo Robles Cuevas, a master's degree holder in law from Harvard University, who discussed the importance of guarantees in Mexico's financial system. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Marek Dubovec and Lic. Cristina Casillas, senior research attorneys at the Center for Inter-American Free Trade, who discussed the international context and recommendations for guarantees in Mexico. The conference also featured a presentation by Jan Roberto Boker Regens, a master's degree holder in law from the London School of Economics, who discussed the Registro Único de Garantía (RUG), a unique registry of guarantees in Mexico. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Marek Dubovec and Lic. Cristina Casillas, who discussed the importance of the RUG and Mexico's progress in this area. On May 8, the conference continued with a presentation by Salomón Vargas García, a doctor in law from the Universidad Panamericana, who discussed the guarantees in the Mexican civil code. This was followed by a presentation by Fernando Martínez García de León, an author of several books and a professor at the Escuela Libre de Derecho, who discussed the judicial procedures related to guarantees, including annotations, executions, and other related matters. The conference concluded with a final discussion between the presenters and the audience, followed by a closing ceremony. The event was attended by various authorities, including the Subsecretary of Competitividad y Desarrollo, José Antonio Torre, and the Magistrado Presidente del TSJDF, Edgar Elías Azar. The Taller de G aimed to provide a platform for experts to share their knowledge and experiences on guarantees in the Mexican judicial system, with the goal of improving the understanding and implementation of these guarantees in Mexico.
